Tuesdays With Jena: Star Wars Fanlove

This week we’re adding a fun twist to our interview feature! After making a tie fighter out of books, I decided to randomly text and DM my fellow book nerds to tell me their favorite Star Wars quote or to tell me what Star Wars means to them. We can always use more Star Wars love in the world!

I learned that I am friends with some seriously amazing people! I love that I can text people and they respond to my random demands with little to zero questions asked. THAT IS LOVE PEOPLE!!!

I also learned that I have several friends who have either never seen them or don’t like them. The most hilarious response was, “I’ve been afraid for you to find this out about me” 🀣🀣🀣

Please click on their names and give them all some love for being awesome and wonderful! Besides, geek girls RULE THE WORLD!!!Β Interviewing everyone has been such a blast, but I had such a blast putting together this focused feature. I totally plan on doing this more, so be ready for more random texting. πŸ˜†

For me, it was hearing all about Star Wars all while growing up. And then when I was in middle school the movies were being shown on the largest screen in our city. I remember my dad being SO excited to finally introduce me to these movies. I’ve shared that sci-fi bond with him ever since! Even making sure last Christmas to see the newest movie with the entire family in matching BB-8 t-shirts!

“Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is essential to a Jedi’s life. So you might say, that we are encouraged to love.” – Anakin

“You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. You were to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.” – Obi-Wan

It melts my heart when my boys watch these movies and know the words by heart!

@sammaybereading

For me, Star Wars immediately calls to mind going to the movies with my family. It was one of the first movies I ever saw in a theater (during the 1990’s rerelease) and it formed a bond between me, my brother, and my dad like few other things did.

AHHHHHHH!!!!!! Okay, I knew I was going to go with a Yoda quote, but I’m having a hard time picking between them!

“Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

“Many of the truths that we cling to depend on our point of view.”

“Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.”

All of these are pretty big for me!

@fabulousbookfiend

“I love you… I know.”

This is my favorite quote! We even have it in a print with a Lego Leia and Han attached, that was a wedding gift to us!

@pnwbookworm

“Fear is the path to the dark side.”

“Your focus determines your reality.”

I love both of these!

@somethingofthebook

Okay favorite quote:

Han: Together again, huh?

Luke: Wouldn’t miss it.

Han: How we doin’?

Luke: Same as always.

Han: That bad, huh?

I always loved this quote because it reminds me of the friends that stick with me through the rough times. Real friendship isn’t always fun stuff. Especially in the world today, where there is so much vitriol and hate, having your friend’s back and showing up when they need you is the best thing you can do, even if it is just to be marched into a death pit.

@amberk1120

I watched the original trilogy back in High School because my boyfriend was adamant about it. They were his favorite. I was “meh” about it. Now, I’m all about the cute and fierce: BB-8, R2D2, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia πŸ˜†

@aliham775

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.” – Yoda

I know everyone hates the new movies. But Anakin is my spirit animal 😁 I get him. I guess I myself have issues with being fear driven. On bad days, I can totally see myself turning to the dark side to help a loved one. Didn’t turn out quite as he hoped. But damn did it make a good story!

@readingbetweenthe__wines

OMG don’t shun me, but I’ve only seen one πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I watched The Phantom Menace at the drive ins when I was younger and all I can remember is when Jar Jar Binks got his tongue electrocuted and I thought it was hilarious! I was obsessed with him for a while after that and even had a beach towel with him on it. πŸ˜‚

@anovelescape

When I was a kid, Star Wars was one of the things my brother and I bonded over. We loved everything about the movies and we read every Star Wars book we could get our hands on! I even hosted Star Wars trivia games for my brother and his friend, with hand-drawn prizes for the winner. When I think of Star Wars, all of those childhood memories bring a smile to my face. 😁

@readtolivetowrite

Star Wars as a whole has always been a favorite, but Anakin Skywalker’s story, his demise and tragic history, has fueled my passion for storytelling. To be able to tell a story that backs that much emotional punch, it’s a goal to strive for.

@readchapter20

Love Star Wars! The quote “I love you. I know” makes me happy! “Laugh it up fuzzball.” Star Wars is always something I’ve done with my family so it’s very special for me. 😊

@moonprincess37

I’m not sure of a quote off the top of my head, but I love Princess Leia and Carrie Fisher. I’ve read her books, so to see what she went through and everything is so inspiring!

@shereadswithcats

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

I fell in love with Star Wars when I was a small child. I loved getting lost in that world! Also, I loved Chewie and the Ewoks. I love the creatures more than the people but Han Solo was my hero and of course, Princess Leia!

Wasn’t this a ton of fun!!! Comment your favorite quote or tell me what Star Wars means to you! And, until next week, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!
